From Bamako to Nairobi: Doucoura to Ignite Dance Life Festival 2025!

We are thrilled to announce that Doucoura, the electrifying Malian trio led by master percussionist Djeli Mahamadou Kone, will be performing at this year’s Dance Life Festival — and it promises to be unforgettable!

Members of Doucoura

Born into a legendary musical lineage in Bamako, Mahamadou Kone has spent more than two decades touring the world with African music giants such as Habib Koité and Toumani Diabaté. In 2011, he founded Doucoura to explore and reimagine Malian sound. Today, the group performs as a tightly woven acoustic trio, featuring Mahamadou, his son Makan “TaTa” Kone, and cousin Abdoulaye “Kandiafa” Kone. Together, they create a richly layered experience with tamani, doundoun, n’goni, balafon, and vocals that speak directly to the soul.

Their upcoming performance at Dance Life Festival is supported by Urgent Africa, and will bring to Nairobi a rare, powerful blend of heritage and innovation.

Catch them live this July at Dance Life Festival 2025 - and prepare to be moved by the sacred pulse of Mali!
