This was a traditional dance that involved mostly women of varying ages, young and elderly. It was perfomed during different celebrations/festivals. The women would dress on their selected costumes/attires depending on the ceremony type, eg burial, wedding, circumcision, harvesting etc. There would be special instrumentalists to play the kuria music instruments like shakers, iritungu(lyre), ekegogo, ekerongwe etc. Mostly this dance was for entertaining visitors attending the ceremony. The dance would take place at different planned times, in the morning, afternoon, evening, sometimes at night (and sometimes overnight). After the dance at the end of the ceremony, the women would be appreciated by a token, either money or an animal or anything valuable available. Their leader received this on behalf of the group.
